New Hours at All Branches Starting Sept. 1
Get ready Albany—starting Tuesday, Sept. 1, hours are changing at all APL locations. View the new schedule here.
We are making adjustments to opening and closing times at APL branches in an effort to bring you more morning hours, more evening hours, and more options of locations to visit when your favorite branch is closed.
Starting Sept. 1, APL will have:
- Four or five branches open every morning, Monday through Wednesday
- Three or four branches open every evening, Monday through Thursday
- Better pairing of branches around the city, so if one branch is closed, chances are there is another branch within a mile or two that is open
APL branches will be open when you use them the most. We based the new schedules on feedback we got from customer surveys, community outreach, and by looking at the usage patterns at all library locations.
We are able to make these changes with little to no effect on our budget. Our service area model, which pairs branches in three areas of the city, allows us to share staff and resources, and to save money.
The new schedules shift hours a bit at all locations, and add a total of six hours to the overall schedule of APL. Six of our branches are adding one to three hours to their schedules each week. The Washington Ave. Branch schedule will more closely reflect current usage patterns and the schedules of our other branches.
And don’t forget, we’re always open online. The eLibrary section of our website is where you can download and stream books, magazines, and movies. You can also access your library account, apply for a library card, reserve a room, and so much more.
