Buying a Home? We Can Help!
Does the promise of warmer weather inspire daydreams of buying your own house, maybe with a little garden or backyard?
Find out how to begin the process for real with pointers from this year’s free Capital Region Homebuyer Fair on Saturday, April 18, from 10 am to 2 pm at the Washington Avenue Branch. The annual event is sponsored by the Affordable Housing Partnership (AHP).
You’ll be able to meet with lenders, home inspectors, non-profits, attorneys, Realtors®, and more. Some of them, including AHP, can fill you in on the latest grant and down payment assistance programs available to Capital District homebuyers. During the event, get your free credit score (bring your ID for this one) and even obtain pre-qualification for mortgage financing.
Experts will also present these free event seminars:
- 10:30 am: Building a Great Credit Score. Learn what goes into your score and how you can improve it.
- 11:30 am: Down Payment Programs. Learn about matched savings and other finance opportunities for home buyers.
- 12:30 pm: Energy Efficiency. Learn about NYSERDA’s Home Performance with Energy Star, a program that will help you figure out how your home is wasting money and how to fix it. Save money, energy, and the environment.
